So this is going to be a slightly different post to my normal but still somewhat fitness related. With us now over half way through lockdown 2.0 in the UK and Christmas fast approaching I thought I would highlight some of my favourite small businesses and sportswear brands in case some of you need inspiration for loved ones and want to help and support small businesses during this difficult time for them. So, in no particular order…
Slay Wear London
Lets start with an activewear brand. I came across slay wear london on instagram during the first lockdown. This brand focuses on delivering fully supportive activewear to women (and men) of all size. I have a few bits from them. Their shorts and leggings are high waisted, squat proof, comfortable and fit like a glove. The lady behind the business is awesome too, she uses her social media to encourage body positivity and is quick to reply when it comes to needing help with sizing etc.
Their gym wear goes from a Small to an XL and they are also looking at ranging up to a 4XL so watch this space.
Rainbows & Sprinkles
Another Activewear brand, I own so many of their leggings and shorts and I have more on pre order. Their designs are fun and exciting and range from Dinosaurs to leopard print to sunflowers and many many more. What is really great is that they are more than just an activewear company. They make children’s clothes too. So if you have a little one you can get some gym leggings and a matching romper or pair of leggings for your little one. Just like slaywear they are high waisted, squat proof and comfortable.
This suggestion comes away from fitness and workout wear and in to personalised products. This girl makes the cutest resin products, ranging from bookmarks to keyrings to lovely Christmas decorations and coasters.
I ordered a few customer made Christmas presents from her and they arrived in a lovely little bag. They were exactly what I wanted from the description I gave her too! If you want something unique for friends or family then I’d definitely check her page out. Really reasonably prices and great service.
Fox & Moon
Fox & Moon are another company I found through Instagram.
Anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE stationary! My collection of notebooks is crazy and I get so excited about starting a fresh one. I’ve ordered so many things from Fox & Moon over the last few years but my favourite purchase has to be my yearly planner. Every year I order new inserts so it is like the gift that keeps on giving! They do some great planners for weight loss, keeping track of finances and mindset as well as the normal yearly diary. The planners can be personalised on the front too which adds an extra special touch to a gift. The quality of the products is great and a lot of care goes in to ensuring they look and feel premium.
They’ve recently introduced a VIP reward scheme too so the link I’ve used is one that will give you 10% off and give me some reward points if you sign up! Check them out, you wont be disappointed.
Cooking with Coops
This one is a complete curveball recommendation but an absolutely fantastic one. Coops is a great fella who I met through the James Smith Academy. Throughout the first lockdown he started doing a live cook along on Instagram on Facebook. Now he offers zoom cooking classes, either 1-2-1 or group classes which would make an excellent family activity or team building exercise for work mates. He’s also doing a Christmas cooking course to help you make the most out of your Christmas dinner. Its something a little different but I can assure you it will be fun and the food will be amazing! I did a few of the live cooking sessions throughout lockdown, my favourite being the burrito which I still make every few weeks because it was that delicious!
Give him a follow on Youtube if you want to catch up on some of the previous lives https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGxnWXD5SVA93pYxc4S41xQ/featured
These are just a handful of the independent businesses I recommend. Check them all out if you can. I’d also love you to share some of your favourite small businesses in the comments. Together we can make a difference this year by shopping local and independent where possible!
